To All Staff:
The First Peoples House of Learning is excited to offer staff an opportunity to meet with Thomas R. Louttit, a Visiting Elder who is coming to Trent next week (Bio attached). Mr. Louttit regularly speaks to schools and community groups about his experiences within the residential school system and his personal healing journey. Staff who are interested in learning more about Indigenous traditional practices and would like an opportunity to ask questions, engage in a discussion and learn from a Traditional Elder, are invited to join us on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. in room GCS 115 Gzowski College.
The Visiting Elder program is a highly successful and time honoured tradition at Trent – as we begin to work together, across fields and outside of our zones, Traditional Elders offer special opportunities for all of us to learn and appreciate Indigenous ways of knowing and their particular areas and fields of endeavor.
We hope that you will join us in this learning opportunity. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Betty Carr-Braint, Trent’s Cultural Advisor/Counsellor, First Peoples House of Learning.
